The Oskido scholarship is a collaboration between legendary South African artist Oskido, SAE Institute South Africa and Bridges for Music non-profit organisation. The scholarship covers the full year tuition fees for SAE’s full-time Higher Certificate in Sound Production at the state-of-the-art campus in Rosebank, Johannesburg at the renowned Design District Building.
ABOUT THE OSKIDO SCHOLARSHIP
Oskido’s intrinsic belief in SA artists and incredible record for uncovering new talent makes this legendary DJ/Producer an excellent addition to the SAE South Africa scholarship programme. Oskido has a long history of equipping young artists and DJs with valuable industry information through his DJU (Deejays Unite) collaboration with Greg Maloka, DJ Fresh, Vinny Da Vinci and DJ Christos.
Oskido is a producer, performer, radio presenter (Metro FM), record producer and entrepreneur. Born in Brits he later moved to Johannesburg to pursue his musical dreams. He founded Kalawa Records which later became Kalawa Jazzmee. The record label has been at the forefront of youth culture and has produced top acts such as Bongo Maffin, Mafikizolo, Thebe, Alaska, Professor, Character, Black Motion, Boom Shaka, Zonke, Winnie Khumalo, DJ Zinhle, Magesh, and many more. In 2012 Oskido was honoured with a Special Recognition Award at the 9th Channel O Video Music Awards for his contribution to the development of South Africa music.
HOW TO APPLY
The scholarship is open to all South African citizens and all candidates must hold a Grade 12 certificate. The scholarship is only valid for the July 2019 study intake. Candidates will be responsible for all living and travel expenses should they come from outside of Johannesburg.
