On 2nd of May – the day after International Workers Day, we will honour May Day with a FREE screening of Strike a Rock, a documentary film about the lives of two women who lead their poverty-stricken community in a fight for justice after a massacre.

The film covers the tragic Marikana Massacre on 16th August 2012 and how the Marikana Women’s Group, Sikhala Sonke in Wonderkop near Marikana, was formed soon after the killings to unite women and to fight for peace and better living conditions in Marikana.

The session will be hosted by the SAE Film Department and the director of Strike a Rock, Aliki Saragas will join as a guest via teleconference for a Q ‘n A session afterwards.
