[Award-Winning<br> Creative Legends](https://www.sae.edu.za/global-alumni/award-winning-creative-legends/): Billy Butler is a Lead Modeller at Framestore in London. Most recently, Billy was part of the team that won a BAFTA and an Academy Award for the film ‘Gravity’. More specifically, Billy created the spacecraft and the spacesuit that Sandra Bullock wears in the film. SAE graduates won 4 Grammys at the 57th Grammy Awards in 2015 and received 11 nominations. Winners included Jonathan Lee for his work on the ‘Beyonce’ album and the single ‘Drunk In Love’, and Florian Legatta for his work as engineer on the Album of the Year – ‘Morning Phase’ by Beck. Former SAE students were named on 7 Grammy nominated albums in 2015. Florian Lagatta is a world-renowned sound engineer, having won Grammys recently for his work on the Beck ‘Morning Phase’ album and Daft Punk’s album ‘Random Access Memories’. Florian was the mix engineer on the popular Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams single ‘Get Lucky’. Mark Paterson won an Academy Award in 2013, along with a BAFTA, a Cinema Audio Society Award and Motion Picture Sound Editing Award for his work on sound mixing for the film ‘Les Misérables”. Among his many sound mixing credits are ‘Children of Men’ (2006), ‘Sherlock Holmes’ (2009), ‘Wrath of the Titans’ (2012) and ‘The World’s End’ (2013). - [In The Mix](https://www.sae.edu.za/global-alumni/in-the-mix/): Brisbane Bachelor of Audio graduate Tony Romeril has just released an album titled ‘Will You Remember Me – A Tribute to Ted Mulry’. The album features re-recorded versions of songs from Ted’s final album which was recorded before he passed away in 2001. The Ted Mulry gang were famous in the 1970s for songs such as ‘Jump in My Car’. Former SAE Sweden student, now Audio lecturer, Joy Deb co-wrote the winning 2015 Eurovision Song Contest song ‘Heroes’ for singer Måns. Joy also co-wrote the song ‘You’ performed by Robin Stjernberg which won Melodifestivalen 2013. Upon completing his Audio studies, Ricky was lucky enough to spend a week learning at Abbey Road Studios. During his time there, he did some editing for Mark Ronson on the soundtrack to the film ‘Mortdecai’. Mark was so impressed with Ricky’s knowledge of outboard gear and vintage tape machines that he recruited him to work on his next album. Ricky is credited as an engineer on the massive 2015 Mark Ronson hit ‘Uptown Funk’. Audio graduate Martin has combined his love of computer games with his passion for audio and is pursuing a career in games sound. Martin has received recognition for his audio work on the cult game ‘Among the Sleep’, while another of his soundtrack projects has received over 15 million downloads. Martin now works full-time as a Sound Designer at Krillbite Studio in Norway. Jon studied a Bachelor of Audio Engineering at SAE Byron Bay where he collaborated with musicians Tyrone Lindqvist and James Hunt and later formed the band RÜFÜS. Their debut album ‘Atlas’ debuted at number 1 on the ARIA Chart in 2013. Their second album ‘Bloom’ was released in January 2016 and went straight to number 1 on the ARIA Chart. After completing his Bachelor of Audio degree, Kevin Garcia Fernandez accompanied Australian band ‘Wolfmother’ as a live sound engineer on their world tour for 6 months. In 2015, Kevin toured with Ash Grunwald as a full-time Live Sound Technician. - [Behind The Lens](https://www.sae.edu.za/global-alumni/behind-the-lens/): During his Diploma of Screen and Media studies, Ben was approached by the Active8 Yamaha Yamalube Race Team to travel around the country and film their motorcross desert campaign. Upon completion of the course, he spent 6 months developing a motorsport documentary with the team, which was released through Trailrider Magazine Australia. Jarrad is a multi-skilled filmmaker and has worked on numerous local productions. He produced a short film titled ‘Impact’ which was showcased at several film festivals, including the Gold Coast Film Festival. His credits include feature films, short films, music videos and corporate videos. Having been offered a full-time position as a result of his internship during studies, Jarrad now works as Creative Director of Bear Marketing in Brisbane. Tabata completed her Bachelor of Film studies in 2011 and has since worked as an editor and producer on a range of high-profile productions. In 2011, Tabata assisted as a Fixer on ‘Hamish & Andy’s Euro Gap Year’ and in 2013 she worked as editor on ‘Huey’s Cooking Adventure’ and various productions for SBS. She now works as Video Editor at Whybin TBSW with clients including ANZ, Nissan and Medibank. - [Frame by Frame](https://www.sae.edu.za/global-alumni/frame-by-frame/): After working in the IT industry as a Software Programmer for several years, David McLaughlin decided to follow his passion into Animation. David now works as 3D Visualiser on various engineering projects. Cara Gately works as Character Technical Director at Iloura Studios in Melbourne (Ted 2, The Great Gatsby, Mad Max Fury Road). Her expertise is technical character and vehicle rigging. She has recently worked on ‘Prometheus’. Alex is currently the FX Technical Director at Sony Pictures Imageworks, Vancouver, having worked for studios both in Australia and overseas. His credits include ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’, ‘Walking with Dinosaurs 3D’, ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’, ‘The SpongeBob Movie’, ‘Gods of Egypt’ and the hugely successful ‘Lego Movie’. His next project for Sony Pictures is ‘The Angry Birds Movie’. - [Code to Console](https://www.sae.edu.za/global-alumni/code-to-console/): Five 2014 Bachelor of Games Development graduates are finding success on Google Play with their game ‘Bio-Gloom’. Zac Cliff, Ashley Lowcock, David McGill, Shane Rypers and Kim Ahlstrom released the game in early 2014 which has been listed on a number of popular gaming blogs and was featured in the Top 10 new Android Games in February 2014. The game has had over 30 000 downloads. Brisbane games company Halfbrick Studios was founded in 2001 by former students and has been at the forefront of the Australian game development industry for many years. With the massive success of Fruit Ninja on iPhone and iPad, Halfbrick has become one of the most well-known indie developers in the world. Halfbrick Studios regularly hire SAE graduates in a range of positions. Having met through their studies at SAE Brisbane, 6 games and animation students have established Knightlight Games, a game development studio based in Brisbane. The team consists of Mitchell Saad, Rulesh Prasad, Emanuele Oliveri, Peter Levonpera, Michael Clark and Michael Heard.
